Shigeru

Striving for Piano Excellence

While we honor our time-honored traditions with dedication and respect, Shigeru artisans also embrace contemporary methods to perfect the craft of piano making. Our state-of-the-art anechoic chamber allows for thorough analysis of tone purity. We employ advanced materials to enhance touch stability and consistency. Utilizing digital design tools, we optimize the construction and performance of each component.

In the realm of pianos, merely dwelling on the past is insufficient. The Shigeru piano embodies progress and embodies a forward-looking vision.

The bespoke tapered soundboard of a Shigeru piano is crafted solely from the finest spruce, aged through the traditional kigarashi process, where time and nature work together to achieve natural equilibrium. This meticulous and time-consuming process endows Shigeru pianos with a uniquely rich tonal quality.

Our Shiko Seion hammers, named for the Japanese words for 'ultimate voicing', are the exclusive domain of our Master Piano Artisans, who oversee their creation from inception to completion. Each hammer is painstakingly hand-pressed without heat and meticulously voiced without artificial hardeners, ensuring exceptional dynamic response and expression.
